Fuel Pressure Gauge (diycerb?)

Hi guys

I think diycerb put a fuel pressure gauge on his fuel rail. Just wondering where and how. There are lots of threaded plugs on it (4.2 by the way) I thought it might be an easy job.

If anyone has any thoughts I'd like to hear 'em.

No particular reason for it just gone a bit gauge mad after the success of my oil temp gauge.

tbh I wouldn't bother.

Lot of agro for something that's probably gonna stay pretty static. There's no manifold depression compensation on these so you'll only loose pressure due to tank surge or a dodgy pump.

Oil temp was a great addon, Fuel pressure not really, in my book.

I just was looking to attach one somewhere to check the fuel pressure was up to scratch. Not to mount one permanently.

Sorry for the late reply.

Yep, I've got a fuel pressure gauge connected to the fuel rail. Haven't got a picture of it but if you look at the fuel rail you will notice some blanking plugs on the corners above the air con compressor, need an allen key to remove one of them. I screwed in a 1/4 inch NPT fitting with a short length of 1/8 stainless steel into a 80psi gauge. The gauge just sits next to fuel rail. Had to use a silicon filled gauge as the pointer fell off the first gauge due to the engine vibration.

If I remember correctly the gauge reads a steady 38psi. I'm an instrument engineer by trade so the more info for me the better. It would be invaluable for diagnosing fuel pump problems when the car has broken down on you.

You can see the gauge next to the right hand throttle pot and the small tube which is connected to the fuel rail.
