I remember seeing on a thread someplace in PHs a lucky chap that had aluminium steering wheel buttons fitted. As I recall he had posted some pics of his interior but the thread wasn't actually button focused. Does anyone remember the thread cos I can't find it again. Alternatively has anyone else actually found a decent replacement?

Hi Bezrek !

It might have been pics of the interior of my car, page 10 in the "show of your Cerb topic" www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?p=10&f=6&t=298134&h=0 .
I bought the aluminium fronts for the pushbuttons from a guy here on PH. His name is Jonathan Hughes, maybe someone knows him so You can get his adress.

During the winther I have been doing some more aluparts for the interior, air vents, joystick for the mirrors and pushbuttons for opening of the doors.

Here is a pic of the heater controls and the door opening button. The ring on the door button has blue light in it. You can get it with red, green or blue light.

The door buttons is bought from here: www.elfa.se/en/

Looks like MP1002 to me. Although I wouldn't know which ohm rating to choose and it seems to need an external resistor for the LED. Bit too complicated for me. They do look good though.

Peppe, if you wanted to make your ali upgrades available, I'm sure you'd find buyers (me for one).

I made the steering wheel buttons.

I have 1 set left, but could make another batch if there is interest. Mail me if you are interested.

Did you do the heater controls as well?
Depending on the cost, I'd be interested in a set, they look great.

Hi Jensena!

The catalogue numbers are:

35-072-25 for red illumination
35-072-41 for green
and 35-072-66 for blue

I choosed the blue since the interior of my car is magnolia and navy blue.

Hi Dempsey !

You already have the external resistor (680 ohms) that is needed in the wireloom for the door, the old pushbuttons need one too.

Hi Bill !

For the heater controls I bought the fronts from Jon H, and did alurings to fit around the pushbuttons of a alupipe.
I changed the panel holders for the LED´s to catalogue number 75-042-36 from Elfa.

The full set comprises 4 steering wheel buttons, 2 heater buttons and 4 window buttons. £10.00 per set. I only made a few (initially for me and a mate, plus a few spares) as I was not sure if they would work. The last set has just gone, but I can do another batch if there is interest. I can't post pics up as I am at work currently, but if you mail me I can send you some pics.

Oh and Alan - I haven't forgotten your brighter blue LED's - I was waiting for stock to come in. They'll be in the post tomorrow along with some white ones in case you fancy a change.
