hi people
i'm new to all this forum thingy. on total impulse i went out and bought a sp6.
very nice, goes well no rattles or bangs (other than damn potholes and the flappy bonnet)
one question that fellow owners might be able to help with- coolant temp, normal running it goes anywhere between 70 and 100.plenty of water in it does'nt use any, doen't overheat and the fan cuts in. is this normal or do i need to start getting my hands dirty?
i know most of you guys are v8 owners but there must be a few sp6 owners on here that might be able to share info

Welcome to the fold! I have a 4.5 which on a run sits at about 80 degrees, once in traffic this usualy rises to just over 95 and then hovers between 90 and 95 as the fans cut in and out, hope this helps.

Gauges can be a little out, as long as your coolant and water mix is right and the fan cuts in lo level or hopefully lwer the temp then I wouldn't worry. keep an eye on the levels for a while to make sure there are no leaks. (the bonnet sh ouldn't flap too much!!!)

If you can find someone with a laptop and software for a Sp6 then get it connected up and see if the gauges are anywhere near the actual temperature, TVRs are know for there gauges not reading correctly, the laptop will tell you exactly whats going on.

Welcome. I have a S6, the normal running temp is 80. In traffic it can run upto 100, with the fans kicking in at about 94 (I think).

The temp/oil guage is not accurate and I fitted a digital version, which gives a lot more confidence, when driving at high speed .

Yes the readings are fine , but the capilliary guages do read around 6-8C hotter than it really is.

My 4.2 sat at 80 int he winter but last summer was at 90 to 105/110 with the fans running. So long as it doesn't go higher you're OK.
