new owner 4.2 advice needed

culture shock to drive but luv it tappets done 2000 miles ago but sound noisey compared to previos evo? i am going to change oil for peace of mind ;what oil and filter? do you advise oil pressure relief valve spring runs at 50 tickover 20 60 at start up do you use an oil additve? any advice please thanks davy
Tickover OP sounds low. Spring is pennies and easy to change yourself.
No additives. Just decent high RON petrol and quality synthetic oil (everyone has a fav brand).
Tappets close up over time, meaning your valves won't seat which leads to loss of power and should lead to the valves burning out (dunno if that last bit actually happens on an AJP engine, but in other engines it definitely can). Tappety valves means you still have a gap. Definitely preferable of the two options.

They do sound tappety, - This isnt a sewing machine Jap Engine - It's race engine based on F1 engine design. The oil filter is from a Land Rover Oil Filter : ERR3340 Land Rover, and use a good synthetic oil to the same spec as Mobil 1
dffy - yes the Cerb is as quick as it feels, probably quicker. But its a race car toned built for the road. Cars like the EVO are little family saloon cars beefed up to be fast. An EVO/IMprezza or even a well driven hot hatch will leave you for dead on a B road, dont try and race against one cos you'll crash it
. But get a Cerb out on the track and its a different story, thats what the Cerbera is really built for, good fast dry roads.
It's not all about speed though, its the way the Cerb does it compared to something like an EVO. I've driven a 380hp EVO, press the throttle down 1 inch and its full throttle, it's very quick but oh so boring, and anyone can drive them fast, you dont need any skill, The Cerb has 200 yards of throttle travel, it has to be driven and it takes practice and skill.
An EVO owner bought a Cerb last year, he sold it after 1 month saying it was a "Huge dissapointment". Well thats because he wasnt a driver and didnt appreciate what a Cerbera is all about.

OK Favorite oil I use on my 97 4.2 is Silkolene pro s 10w/50 from Opie Oils. It looks like ribena but comes recommended and seems to suit my car.
