Anybody taken out a warranty ?

Has anyone here purchased a Cerb through a private sale and then purchased some form of warranty or mechanical insurance ? If so, how much did it cost, and was it worth the paper it was written on ?

The £65 one from the AA has done me proud, £475 maximum claim x five or six claims per year.

Alas, mine's over ten years old now, so I can't renew.

Do most of them have an age limit on them or does that just apply to the AA one? Looking at a 98 R-reg 4.2, so I might struggle to get it covered then.

I heard that if you have had the AA cover for a couple of years prior to the ten years and have had it serviced as per the service schedule then the AA will continue to warranty the car if you ask them nicely - let me know as mine will be coming up to ten in two years time.

Thats what I've heard too. The AA also has a 100k mile limit in theory, but if you've been with them before that, then they'll carry it on.

I must say, that they did send me the renewal form through, but it also tells you to look at the small print before you re new.

I'm guessing that they would happily take your money, and give you a knock back when you come to claim.

The renewal form didn't mention that I had special dispensation from any of the small print, so I'm guessing it's down to the customer to check how old their vehicle is.

i'm on this and would recommend, only did one claim and that was the clutch last year!

Anyone else do a similar one? My cars 10 years old but I wouldn't mind offsetting a clutch. Bound to need one soon.
