25k should get you damn close to a late 4.5LW

Although this is a bit over the stated budget, its not complete unattainable

With a 25k budget I'd set the ceiling at 20k, allow 2-3 for upgrades (suspension, sports zorst) if required, and the rest in the reserve pot for those unforseen deep pocket moments.

Re the 4.5 LW. Compared to a late 4.2 the difference is not all it may appear. After 1999 the 4.2 cars were actually 4.5 bottom ends with 4.2 induction systems, which, according to the factory boys, were the best to drive and in real day to day driving terms feel faster than the 4.5, (given the induction system and throttle response). I could have gone for the 4.5 but on their advice went for a 2003 4.2 -- & its a real snorter. Having owned every Cerbie model, all I can say is I will be keeping this one for a long time.

One more thing --if you buy a later model from a dealer, you should also be able to get the autoprotect Gold warranty (inc the option for wear & Tear like I did). Thats another thing thats well worth having, given its cover is for 12 months, so you shouldnt need to fork out for unseen problems if they arise.

Buying ba Cerb - or any TVR - isn't like buying any other car. If you look at 5 Porsche's all in different Colours, they will all be the same. All TVR's are different, so Get whatever Colour the Best one happens to be. If it's a colour you ike, that is a bonus.

i can only reiterate what jens has said i bought mine two years back and i purchased a californian sage colour, now thats not a colour i would have openly looked for but all the other criteria was right. it was a 99 model 4.2 ajp with 19,000 on the clock full history etc no track days, in fact was used for the last twelve months by the guys wife. you could tell it had been well looked after.this bears out because in the two years i have had her i had,nt spent on her at all, only recently when i put on a new battery and cooked some black boxes but thats another story. anyway after a short while the colour grew on me and i love the colour now,good hunting with yours btw the one on the bottom line seems nice
