Boot Release

My badge boot release is needing a harder and harder push to open it now. At some stage I imagine it may stop working altogether.
So before I start ripping out the boot lining,
I guess the badge is connected to a plunger from a switch inside the boot?
Is the switch easily accessable?
Can it be adjusted?

Yes, it is easily adjustable. The cerbera badge operates a small servo which moves a solid push/pull rod. On the rod there is a small grub screw & assembly, which can be moved up & down the rod. I used a small squirt of WD40 to lube the various linkages.

you can also adjust the actual badge from inside the boot there are two nuts on the back which are spring loaded it could be that

If you remove the rear badge you can see that the switch is actually the same as those used inside for door release etc. They're not really intended for 'wet' use, water can get in and corrode the contacts. I'm going to change mine for a moisture resistant button.

The button sends a signal to the control box, this fires the solenoid (not a 'servo'). So as long as the button's contacts are working in any way the solenoid will be fired. But it can be intermittant or temperamental.

if I press mine, the solenoid clicks very weakly a few times then after a few seconds the boot releases. But with the boot open it works first time, so its difficult to diagnose. Although I do suspect the solenoid is weak.

Can someone post the Maplin part number for the solenoid please?
