My aircon decided not to work for the first 10 minutes of my journey home last night, then came on blowing as hot as I ever remember it doing, does this mean my unit needs re-gassing? Anyone know of a 're-gasser' close to the A23/M23?

If you've lost the gas then you most probably have a fractured pipe.

Get the aircon man to put a speical die in with the gas so when you take it back with the help of some googles and a speical torch you can see where the gas has escaped.

Refrigerant evaporates at about -30*C at atmospheric pressure so could not be a liquid on your floor.

If the stuff you saw did come out of your condenser then you've got serious contamination problems in your air-con system ..... but you've probably just got a slight leak in your rad.

Agree about refridgerant evaporating, but could well be lubricating oil leaking from the air-con pipe, all air-con pumps need oil or they die in a big way.

I know you dont work on your car as Paul has built his business on the work you put his way But just check along the seem where the end caps meet the main body of the rad.This is a weak spot.

Paul did say, over the phone and with my great mechanical knowledge knowhow description, given the location, it 'could' be fluid from the oil cooler? Having had a very quick shufty from the front of the car, there is a funny looking small radiator thingy above where the leak was. That sound plausable?

You werent suggesting I pick up a spanner where you dude?

Yes.Its good to know your car a bit.Other than its got four wheels and goes backwards and forwardsIf the substance was oily then could be.If its coolant it will be green in colour and leave a fowl after taste.

Everso slightly oily. If I was pushed, Id say it was a bluey colour. Was dripping out a small drainhole in the bodywork under the 'nose'. It tasted feckin 'orrible. Not a lot of it. Hasnt happened since. Coolant level in the expansion tank is fine. Temps are fine and fans working.

It needs further investigation.The area between the intake and rad traps water.be it rain or wash water.And normally comes out of the small hole you are desribing.But coupled with the fact that you say the substance is a bit blue in colour,then i would say the rad is weeping slightly.

Better get your finger out Nick as there's 64 cars in at Austec at the moment - well 63 after mine left this morning The clutch slave seals went end of last week - could've been worse as it might've happened on the way to/at/from the 'ring. Nice new clevortrevor slave all fitted now
