Worth going for a LW?

Quick question on your opinion - whether its worth waiting for an early LW (~2000) or stick with an older "original" (1999)?

For example (from the current classifieds):

Original: www.pistonheads.com/sales/147933.htm

LW: www.pistonheads.com/sales/150022.htm

From what I've read, the differences are fairly cosmetic... so I'm not worried about those. Is there anything more fundamental which should be taken into consideration? Or just find a good example, irrespective of LW or not.

I didn't like the letterbox windscreen view of the earlier cars & hence aimed for a later one.

Yep - absolutely take your point.

I've looked at both, and whilst appreciating the differences, they seem to be mainly cosmetic. I really just wanted to verify that there's no real compelling reason to spend a little more cash, or seek out a LW over the original...

Yeah I guess that's it really. The LW is supposed to be slightly lighter...maybe... they have the new lights & big wheels too - cosmetic bits you can always add to an older model. Also the seats. But for me the only thing was the windscreen - I really didn't like the thin one but to be honest I reckon that I could've got used to it.

Driving an early Cerb is like sitting in a wobbly arm chair in comparison. .

Fair enough - although interestingly, most people who've expressed an opinion have suggested the older style seats were actually better...

But still - its good as thats a personal preference, so no real determining factor for either/or still, which is good.

The letterbox style windows of the early cars were horrid -2000 on cars were far nicer. (I have had both models & the 4.5 was a 96 -my current 4.2 is a 2003)The weight saving on the LW is 40 kilo for what its worth.
4.2 & 4.5 cars dont seem to have much between them if anything in performance unless you tweak the 4.5 versions up. Either one is a great car.

ok then, as I am a good citizen and all that, if anyone wants to swap their tuscan style seats ins light grey for my older style ones i'll be glad to help out - just to do my bit for the community of course :-)
