Can you help?
I am looking to buy a 4.5 cerbera that has been loved and cherished, I have a budget of around 18k.
It was I that looked at the yellow cerb with the porsche brakes, but just could not get my head around
the colour and the non faired in headlights looked a bit odd, lovely cond car though.

I am not sure probably a 1999-2000, am prepared to pay good money for one, have got a 3 year old M3 smg nice car but a bit clinical, went out in a friends Chimeara, then I drove the yellow cerb advertised on here, and I am hooked.
Have loved them for a long time so I have to get it out of my system.
Do you know of any good examples for sale??

42 'listed' of which something like 16 are sold and 5 are trade 'wanted' ad's.
Good ones are becoming very rare on market and I think prices are beginning to reflect that.

It's got to be worth a look, but the price is very steep for a 2000 model.
Keep your options open as there are quite a few nice ones out there, ideally £26k should be getting you one of the very latest Cerbs (I think James Agger had a pair of 02/03 plates recently for similar money - £26k).
It's all about condition when it comes to Cerbs and by this I mean mechanical condition as well as cosmetic.
By all means have a look at this one but use it as more of a benchmark as I am sure that there will be similar Cerbs for sale at more realistic prices.

Jules - If your coming from a background of BMW type cars into the world of Cerbera's. you need to be prepared to change the way you look at cars, and alter your expectations. It's a true 20th Century Supercar but fitted with the ancilliary equipment (electrical equipment, heater, wipers and wiring connections etc) of a 1960's Mini!. And being hand built they are all different.
When your in the market for a 5 year old 'normal' car, say a BMW/Merc/Honda/Ford, then you makea list of priorities eg It has to be Silver or Blue, must be the XYZ spec and be under 10k miles
Then you look around at all the Blue and Silver ones that meet your spec, theres a;ways plenty of them, they will all be the same, so you just pick the one that you like the colour of.
With a Cerb you should drive aa many as you can, and choose the best one, regardless of colour. I would never choose a Yellow Honda, but a yellow Cerb is different because it is a Cerbera. You may be lucky and get one in the colour you want, but don't make colour your top priority.
I should know, I bought my one last year because I loved the colour of it, and sold my red one. They guy who bought my Red one (byker28i) was lucky because it WAS the colour he wanted, and he's had 12 months trouble free motoring. My new has been beset by niggling problems, but 12 months and £3.5 later it is now all sorted, and I have the car I wanted. So what I'm saying is, is that making the colour a top priority can cost you.

£3.50 to completely fix a Cerbera up? I want your mechanics contact details! Lol, just kidding fella, but he's serious - All in I've spent about £5k turning mine into a minter and I still have the rear brakes and master cylinder to do.... but then she's perfect.

Just this month, i've gone the same route as you intend, from an E46 M3 to a 4.5 2001 cerb. It did cost me a little bit more than your budget, but not by much and it's only done 20k miles. It does have the pod lights, which are not quite as attractive as when they are faired IMO, but sometimes you have to compromise somewhere.
I agree about the clinical nature of the M3, it never relly floated my boat, it was a scalpel compared to the axe-like cerbera. Although maybe i miss some of the M3 on-board toys and the wind noise can get a bit tiresome!
I was also was hooked on getting a cerb, so probably didn't spend as much time as i should have looking at other cars, but that's me!

When I bought my Cerb, friends and family said I was mad to go for yellow, until they saw it and all agreed its a great colour for a TVR. Last year I nearly bought a yellow Audi A4 DTM, thinking Id have a matching pair, but as soon as I saw it in the flesh (and it was Audi's 'piss yellow') I thought it looked awful, so went for boring (and much slower
) silver. Not sure I could live with a yellow car as a daily driver....Id be forever washing the bloody thing!micky g said:

I would recommend anyone buying a Cerb(Ive had 2)goes into it with their eyes wide open,if your unsure about what to purchase best dealing with someone like James Agger.
