Cant answer your question Russ, but shirley 20/50 is too thick anyway? Im using (IIRC) 5/40. Cant explain why your high pressure would rise but the hot pressure would be lower with the thinner stuff. I think?

My oil pressure shot up when I had the car serviced last year (I fitted a new pressure relief spring a few weeks before the service) and has since fallen away again. Oil use is very low and level is on max. I wonder if the filter clogs up a bit, reducing pressure over time. Although not a very direct comparison, I have some printers at work which do this with ink filters. New filter = lovely pressure. Pressure drops... replace filter, pressure back to normal.

Just a thought.

Your car probably has the same engine as mine and the manual with mine recommended Mobil-1 0 W 40.

The general opinion seems to be that it's best for us to change to 5 W 40.

I wasn't able to source Mobil-1 over here but I'm using the Shell Helix equivalent which, according to a friend of mine who works for an oil company, is virtually identical.

How many times??

10W/50 is the best option in a Cerb, especially one that has done 30k plus. However 10W/60, 15W/50 and in a newish enigine / low miles 5W/40, are all fine

0w/40 is too thin IMO.

Mobil 1 ow 40 is too thin.

It was only used in the first place due to a sponsership deal with British Touring cars a few years ago. I use 5/40...carlube.

I use either 5w/40 or 0w/40 in mine. Doesn't exactly seem to get through much. I've had the same can sitting around half full for the best part of 6months

I never asked for one.

I'm thinking the old filter must have been clogged up with regards to the pressure.

I'm interested to see what happens with the usage though.
