Lost steering wheel controls

While bodging around with the steering end of the engine bay,Trying to line up the UJs etc, i have inadvertantly managed to kill all the 4 buttons on the steering wheel, the horn started blarting at random now none of em work. What have i likely to have done, does that PCB board die easily?

There a small white connector block on top of the circuit board on the steering column that comes loose.

Sounds to me like the ribbon cable has snapped, i'm in the process of finding new conectors for mine at the moment. (any ideas anybody?) The steering wheel may have been turn a couple of turns one way too many, then fastened back to the uj and whoops there goes the ribbon

Slightly off topic, but not entirely .....

Has anyone ever fitted a "normal" steering column c/w stalk switches to a Cerb and re-housed it in the original pod?

It's not a mod I'm planning or anything, just curious.

Mine did the same thing last year, TwoTall i think is right.
I got mine off the shelf at Hexham Horseless Carriage : 01434 601666, £26 ,inc Vat n P&P.
Cured the problem immediatley. HTH

(i did get the feeling that they had sourced a supplier of their own ,but could be wrong!)

When mine did this, it was the connectors that had simply popped off. If you pull back the black sponge gator you should be able to see if it's the connectors or not. There's a row of 3 2 pin white "Molex" connectors. Mine have done again since and so the locking tabs on the connector have bent over time. You should be able to get replacements from any electronics store - Maplins, RS, etc. Think I might just tape my connectors to the boared if it happens again!

Sorted, now i see how it works i can see what i did. When my steering column was free i span it to check for tight spots, this simply wound the coil of that tape stuff tight and pulled it out of the connections at the back of the grey round box thing. Had to remove the lid and re-connect. Bit bloomin fiddly though.

When you refit the coiled ribbon cable, connect it up. Then with the steering wheel up in place, but not on the splines of the shaft, wind the steering wheel round until the ribbon cable just starts to get tight, then wind it back 2 full turns, then push it back onto the splines and put the bolt on. Unwinding it that 2 turns gives it enough slack so it will never pull the connectors out.
