out and about having a tear up with what ever i can find. feeling a bit pleased with myself(nice weather etc), pulled off the a1 at stevenage dipped the clutch, feels very light. strange me thinks.next roundabout nothing,no pedel. true bulldog spirit, thought sod it and kept going. managed to get it back home to enfield. quick look underneath looks like fluid leaking out the bottom of bell housing. looking like hydraulic bearing failure. damn took a week of next week to do some diy. could see it as a lucky escape now i'll be pulling my gearbox down!

master cylinder leak? (or is it slave, always get them confused)
finaly got round to looking at it yesterday, no sign of fluid underneath (must have been water running off the gear box as i hit a puddle!)checked carpet and pipe work- nothing.
topped cluth fluid up and bled up-hey presto got a good clutch. took it out for a 40 mile blat this morning, alls well, fluid level ok.i can only presume that the fluid level hasn't been checked for some time(probably due to the engine cover in the way and the reservoir cover been glued down).this leads me to believe that the people who serviced this car 1500 miles before i got it(only had for 5 weeks)didn't do a very good job. while i was under the car i also noticed all the rear cv boots u/s. not talking about a couple of splits, they've actually rotted more or less completely off the shafts.then there's the head light reflectors, i know these are common, but they don't rot out over night. i have all the service sheets for this car and no mention of any faults at all from this repairer.prior to this it looks like it had been main dealer repaired/serviced.i'm not going to rubbish independents(i'm one myself, although not tvr)most do a sterling job, but people be careful who you choose to work on your beloved, there are a lot of dodgy buggers out there who would love to relieve you of your hard earned. that said there are also plenty of good people in the motor trade who do do the job properly.
thats it rant over feel better now!

Any black bits in the master cylinder?
From what you said I'd flush the whole lot through with some Dot 5. I lost my clutch in London Thunder through heat build up from the cats into the gearbox (I think) and old oil. I don't think mine had ever been changed from new.
Make sure you reseal the clutch cover well otherwise you'll have wet feet/carpets

flushed it though a couple of times. no bits in there just a bit of dirty fluid. took it out again earlier, strange but the clutch feels better than ever.sealed up the cover with silicon rather than the concrete like glue previously used (thought i was going to have to bust it off)

Its worth changing the seals in the master as well as once one goes, the other is usually close behind

Do the slave and master at the same time. I changed the slave, then the master went a couple of months later and buggered the new slave so a new, new slave is now in the car.
Master leaks into the driver footwell, slave dumps it on the deck (as a general rule).
