Has anyone ever managed to get one of these on the cerb? I'm thinking of the type you can fit to most saloon cars that halfords and co sell, i'm thinking it may work on the cerb. It's my only car so need to make something work, but sadly fitting the boot is not really practical - even with wheel, forks and bars loosenend.

If i can get a Vauxhall Corsa in my boot, I am sure you could get a mountain bike on a Cerbera. laugh
What about one of those old boot racks the used to use, I am sure you could fit one of those and get the bike on it.

thats what I was thinking, Ive seen them on various saloon cars and I think it could work. I'm assuming the straps should hook on under the top of the boot and bottom of the car somehow. I was keen to know if anyone has bought one and they fit?

Are you having a laugh? The Cerb is fibreglass. I wouldn't trust the roof of my car to support my lunch let alone a bike and carrier. hehe

I can tell you though it won't support a quad bike. boxedin

Why not? I can get my Specialized FSR in the boot of my Chim with ease - both wheels off and seat post out. I thought the Cerb boot was the same size as the Chim...

I used to have a 'saris bones' rack (www.evanscycles.com/product.jsp?style=11125) that fitted pretty well on my s3. Not tried it on the chim yet but I reckon it would fit without any problems. I had the three bike rack but only ever put two on it as this has more legs, straps and is more sturdy in general.
I bolted a couple of brackets underneth to fix the lower straps to and fixed the upper straps to the seat belt mounting pillars, not sure what you would use on a cerb but I'm sure there is something. I concluded that fitting the straps to the boot lid as you do with 'normal' cars was a really bad idea as I suspect it would fall off along with the bikes but I don't see any issues with it bearing the weight...

I wouldn't just because I'd be annoyed if I scratched the car

I nearly had a mountain bike on my Bonnet yesterday - driving down the M1, there was a 4x4 up head of me about 6 car lengths, with a bike rack on the back, when all of a sudden the rack and all the bikes on it, just flew off and came bouncing down the motorway towards me but luckily the last bounce it took made it change direction and it went crashing into the centre barrier, happened so quickly too, almost needed a change of pants !!

I couldnt get my Trek hardtail in the boot. I removed both wheels and the seat post. I think it might go in it you remove the handlebars (but I am not sure.
The boot is slightly smaller than that of a chim.
Just drill hols in the roof through the roll bar and then bolt a bike rack to the roof.

I know it's kind of wrong to put a bike rack on a a supercar - but i'm not sure what other choice I have as its my only car. the cerb goes everywhere with me and does everything - quick well I might asdd ;-)

Zippee - Ive also got a Specialised FSC so maybe it will go in, i'll have another go. last time I just took the front wheel and seat off but it didnt look like it woudl go.

I wouldn't put anything on the roof, but thoughtmaybe something on the boot may work. but then again, maybe not!

I'm sorry but theres something just so wrong about even having a bike when you have the Cerb.

One's like a childs toy and one's like an adult toy. I don't have a bike for the same reason I don't steal my childs lego.

I suggest you get rid of the bike and realise that no amount of cycling is ever gonna make you carbon neutral hehe

Well why not go the whole hog!! Fit a tow bar!! Then you can get a tow bar mounted bike carrier! A cerb followed by a caravan??

But you could have a cerb followed by a colour coded 18ft phantom?? That would look great!

Cerbera boots are for carrying crates of Stella, contraceptives and blow-up sheep. Not lentils and bikes, that's what 2CV's were made for.

Whatever next.. Bull-bars and Wheel Spinners?

I was thinking this the other day. Well, perhaps not a bike rack, but the possibility of getting a mountain bike in the boot, sans wheels. I am going to try one of these weekends just to see

I don't see why there is anything 'wrong' with it. It is your car after all so why shouldn't you use it for what ever you want to?
Our bikes travelled with my S3 on holidays to Devon, Wales, Scotland without incident (or scratched paint) and the holidays wouldn't have been the same without both the car and the bikes to enjoy.
