Mine (96 4.2) had a fire in the ECU and electronic box area in the passenger footwell, some of the interior is toast and wiring looms but the remainder of the car (body and mechanicals) are fine.

Is it worth buying off the insurance company and breaking. Is there any one out there who wants bits/ buy it as a rolling chassis?

James.

What sort of bits?

I am just trying to work out whether it is a sound economic judgment to buy the salvage.

New clutch in it/ latest bellhousing, overhauled engine, good gear box and diff etc.

James - YHM.

However, if you are able to keep the car then it maybe best to repair it with the payout. It seems a shame for another Cerb to be off the road

......But if not I am sure the rest of the vultures with appear VERY soon ;-)

ALWAYS buy them back.

Keeps more parts in owners control rather than the breakers that jack up the prices!! Wish I'd have bought mine back after I crashed it as it had loads of good bits on it.

Sory to hear of your loss. I guess you had a roller coaster ride with the car anyhow? But to see all your hard work etc go up in smoke (almost) must be painful! Had you sorted the engine out ? Last I recall you still had running issues?

James the best way (i think) is to list the parts you have and the price inc p+p you want (hopefully negotiable especially for multiple parts) and they will get snapped up! ps first refusal on anything email me with prices ;-)

Sorry to hear about the fire.

Do you have any TVR centre caps that would fit Spiders?
