sorry if it's been done to death, but the search isn't working again at the mo.I'd like to know what the std ratio's in the 4.5 cerbs were, and also the c/r box ratios.I'd like to have a box made which has the first three ratio's of my c/r tuscan, but with a more overdriven 5th(29mph/1k revs)like my first griff had.Any recommendations for who i should use to build this for me please? Many thanks,Mike
Those ratios you quoted are completely standard T5 ratios. I *thought* (but cannot be sure) that the Cerb's T5 was different in some way but I'm not sure whether that's in terms of ratios or strength.
There are "World Class" T5s and non-WC, which refers to strength of the box. There are a few others if you Google but I read somewhere that the Cerb T5 (possibly all TVRs) was different somehow.
I put this forward because even a WC T5 shouldn't be able to handle the torque that a decent 4.5 litre Cerb can put out... and yet they appear to.
Aside from the above, I was sceptical before I bought mine whether 5 gears would be enough to provide a low enough 1st, a high enough 5th and a decent spread of ratios inbetween. My previous toy car (Caterham) had a 6-speed box which I adored. The ratios were perfect, so I couldn't believe a Cerb would be much fun with only 5 but the diff must be very long on the Cerb because with the high torque of the 4.5 engine, the ratios on mine appear to be perfect really.

The ratios I quoted are straight from the Cerbera brochure, so they should be correct!!
In that case there might be something special about the strength of the gears... a theory supported by the fact that after 9 years and several spectacular runs at Santa Pod, mine is still going well.
Nice to know finally what the ratios are. Any idea what the diff ratio is? I can plug the info into gearcalc and see if there are any obvious holes.
