I'm thinking of trying my Cerbera on a trackday to explore it's performance in a safe environment, so I fancy a couple of local airfield days/

However these have 100db limits.

My Cerbera at Castle Coombe was measured at 104.6db with cats and a sports rear box at 4000 revs.

What do you think my chances are of getting below 100db with trackday silencers attached?
Would it be slightly quieter if I cheated on the revs, 3500 or below?

The track days silencers some peeps were able to use at the Ring seemed very effective. I would say that yes they would bring the noise down by enough to get you under the 100db limit but try and get a meter to it yourself first ideally before you pay up.

The airfield day is just over £100 but i need to book today to grab a place. I can borrow the trackday silencers a few days before - might be worth a punt then. If it's a little too noisy then maybe I'll try and cheat on the revs?

You not comming to the brands hatch novice day 30th May. Quite a few Cerbs there. Would be good to put a face to the name?

I used silencers at the 'Ring, which brought mine down from 114 to around 99. Exhaust is decat with standard boxes...saved my bacon to be honest!

Nope - not quite yet - I'm not brave enough for a charge into paddock as my first.

An airfield has quite a large run off just in case it all goes wrong.

Tim @ ACT used to have a couple of sets of silencers he hired out for a few days. Give him a phone

I bought a pair off him in the end (and have loaned them out a few times). Brought my decat/sports zorst down from 109 to 98dbs, and witnessed them take Tim's down from 118 or so to 104bds iirc. That was his sales pitch to me. When I saw that, I just said I'll have um

Yup - I'm going to invest in a pair. At approx £100 they seem reasonable. I just need to measure my tailpipes.

Tell you what; a Cerb with reasonably setup suspension will just fly through Paddock
no problems, just what the next right hander after the brow of Paddock hill, it don’t half happen quickly!

Dont be fazed by paddock. Its easy to keep it on the track through there. Just hard to do it quickly. Brands is quite a good first track as its so short.

Honestly I've been on a novice day before. They don't tolerate much angry driving. Its perfect to start you off. They relax the rules somewhat for experienced days and then you get some nutters being allowed to drive a bit close. But on a novice day you get the minibus showing the line, lots of instruction.

Yup - I'll work upto it though. This one is Abingdon which is just up the road. Brands is a two hour drive around the hell which is the M25

P.s. Anyway - got to save up for my Nitrons Obviously when I say save I mean, get past the financial controller at home

MOT's in a couple of months - I might need them to get the car through that
