I've been lurking around these forums for a while now and a recent change of circustances has meant that I can properly start looking for a Cerbera!!! I've viewed several and none have come up to scratch ....so far. I viewed one yesterday '97 4.5 which looks right to me, however I have one concern about wind noise.

At around 60 - 70 mph it sounds as if a seal 'opens' in the passenger door resulting in loads of noise. This was not evident in the other cars I tried, so can someone tell me if this sounds like a matter of adjustment or would the seals need replacing?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Probably is.

My window seal on the drivers side does the same (96). The door seals were uprated on a lot of early cars due to leeks. The seals are a little thicker and required some jiggery pokery with the door to get it to shut. Maybe the door is out of line a bit.
(you get used to the wind)
Thinking of one day resetting my door seals (once the clutch stops shitting itself).

Had the carbon trim on my car realigned (it's the earlier design) and this stopped the window seal giving up when travelling at speed.

My 97 car suffers exactly as you describe, i.e. as speed rises, sddenly the seals on the windows pop open. I assume that airflow into the cabin rises and pressure increases, popig the windows out. There is vent under the rear window which should extract from the cabin, but clearly the relationship between in and out changes as speed increases. I have seen a copy of instructions from TVR to the dealer network on how to add extra holes somewhere to help with this issue, but could not quite get my head round the instructions.

It's not something silly like the window doesn't wind fully up after the door is shut? Mine did that for a while after I disconnected/reconnected the battery with the door open (& boot just in case)and I used to have to push the button to get it to close the last 1/4 inch.

For some reason it's decided to close all the way now...

Mine gets noisy on the drivers side at about 130mph.

I use it as A "you're going to prison warning buzzer"

Many thanks for the replies. If it only happened at 130 this would not be an issue!!! however starting at 60 - 70 mph it would be almost continuous on longer journeys, which is predominantly what the car will be used for.

do you know if the car has recently had a windscreen done? mine was done by autoglass last week and I now get windnoise where I never did before. its going back in friday to get sorted. they think it is the angle of the carbon fibre trim down the sides of the screen that is probably causing the issue.

Almost all the cars I looked at had that noise.

Only one hadn't it and that was 'cos the guy selling it was into messing about with it and had adjusted it to get the window to go up that extra little bit before it stopped.

And it's not the one I bought but looking back on it I reckon I should have gone for that one.

He'd done all the playing and messing about with it that I'm doing with mine now.

Not having the pleasure of owning one of these cars just yet (I'm still looking for one) Would there be any way of packing the seal out from behind with something?

i.e removing it slightly from the body, packing it and then refitting?

Worth a try?

My 96 appears to have some foam between the upright strip & the glass, I guess someone's had a go it.

The 2001, has a sort of "wrap arount" upright strip that also goes over the top of the car.

FWIW, one's no better than the other for the high speed wind noise

mine also has the 'foam' at the top of the window at the front by the carbon fibre - had one piece come out several months ago which created exactly this problem - luckily found it on the garage floor, sealed it back in & problem went away. Always assumed this was standard fit.

It looks a mess doesn't it.

I don't know whether mine is disintegrating or if the kids are picking at it.

I could swear it used to have a rubber strip covering the foam when I bought the car. But after some paint work it disappeared.

I may be wrong

Are the seals generally untidy to look at on these cars? All the ones I have seen so far seem to be

I find it's easy to accidently kick them as I get in, or catch them with stuff & they get sort of nicked or pulled away & damaged. Probably a cheap & easy thing to change - a job I keep meaning to do.

Yep..... and I wasn't even talking about your car.

Still, when your's eventually breaks you'll have me to ask how to fix it.

I'll probably have done it already on mine.
