Hello,
Seen a CAT D early CERB for £6500.Only seen photos and am hoping to go see it Saturday, but it's quite far away . Its had a front end shunt and there is a bit of damage to the lights/grill area (the front lip is hanging off on one side, the headlights are smashed, small areas of cracking around the lights, bonnet lip scuffed and the light surrounds have been taken off). The oil cooler has been damaged. It drives. I don't reckon theres any chassis damage at all but then I am talking myself into buying the thing.
If at worst, assuming all else about the car is in average condition, it needed a whole front end mould and an oil cooler do you reckon it sounds an economical purchase?
I guess there's others that have had the same problem and remember how much it cost?
Also insurance - is it affected by the write off status of the car. Had a quote of £500 fully comp with most other quotes at a grand and some at 2 grand, but on a car that hasn't been pranged.
Thanks very much.

Don't believe these guys advertise on here so no it's not been on here. It's a similar case to that car but frontal damage and the cracks appear much less than that one. I want it as a project really as I would enjoy improving it back to the condition it deserves. Just wanted to try to gauge the level of cost involved in such a project, to see whether it would be attainable not profitable, and also an indicator of how the cat D tag affected the car's insurance. I have had a load of quotes off the confused database, one at £500, most at £1k and some at £2k, on a straight car. How would the CAT D increase these quotes?
I'm off to see it anyway to assess the condition of all the other bits.
Cheers.
