Are these a mare to change to white? - The ones on the front bumper, not the repeaters.

Simple, but a pain to do neatly. They are Sikaflexed in, so if you get any on the lens, you have to clean it off very thoroughly!

Can it be done with the bumper in situ?

Are there any guides out there to do this?

Cheers

Can I suggest it may be wise to have a look at it all in detail before you attempt it.

There is no bumper.

rofl

I'd worry about it when you've got the car. If the colour of the lenses is the only thing you are worrying about, you're a lucky chap! hehe

How can you post this when you dont even have the car to start with.Tell you what.Go and buy the car and all the info you need will be made available by the Cerb community on here. But like as been said above.Changing orange for white indicators will be the last of your worries.

But I have bought one

This is one of the jobs I want to do. What I meant was, does the front end need to be removed?

I purchased from a dealer with a 12-month warranty, so hopefully any woes will be taken care of.

The orange indicators look awful IMO, the dealer has agreed to do the repeaters FOC, but not the front ones as they are a mare according to him.

Congratulations!bounce

I am not sure why the dealer would say it is a nightmare? True that it is not a simple unscrew/screw process, but it's not THAT tough! Maybe it's the prospect of having to unfix the Sikaflex from the old ones? And the possibility that the light unit behind is held in by the same stuff.

I did have a go at re-fixing mine, before calling it quits and taking it to Fernies!hehe

hi,

If you are into spirited driving drack days etc you can take the indicator mod a step further.

I took the old orange round unit out, cut back the sort of double oval opening into which it used to sit into a circle and converted it into a brake cooling duct with 100mm flexihose running through the inner wing along the wishbones and into the rear of the wheel. Its a very neat mod.

the new indicator is a clear white unit located in the smaller hole beneath the old indicator hole.

i would post a picture but the car is in bits and not at home as you may have seen from my earlier post.

anyway both the brakes and indicators now work great

Thanks for the warm welcome

Well, no, I don't have any piccies yet. The car is the black one that was for sale at Fernies though.

I figured with all the worrying stories on here, I should buy from someone that knows these cars and it having a warranty. It will also be a company car for me, so will be a daily runner laugh

Anyway, this is a mod that funnily enough Fernies said was a sod to do, that's why I asked the question.

Makes you wonder how to change bulbs when they go

Right here goes. You will have to remove the housing it sits in from the car. Then remove the light unit from the housing. This will need some cutting and prising with a knife as it is bonded in.Dont buy the lights from a dealer as these lights are a standard M.O.D fitment. You will note that on the front of these lenses there is a number preceded with the letters FV which stands for (fighting vehicle). You are best off buying these from an Ex military dealer and ask for a pair of high intensity side light lenses or bug eye side light lenses.Should cost you any more than between £10-15 new each.

If a dealer thinks that it's a mare of a job I wouldn't trust them to do anything else more serious. laugh

Removing my rad and oil cooler was 10x worse than changing the front indicators.

To be fair to the dealer it was probably because I screwed as much as I could on the price - Having a LOT of work carried out to the car including paintwork.

With a bit of luck, it should be ready in a few weeks time.

Me asking about the indicators was probably the straw that broke the camels back biglaugh

You have to be careful when removing them if your car has the vent holes next to the indicators cut out (seems many don't see pic in my profile). Because it is very easy to snap off the thin sliver of body work between the vent hole indicator & – I know!

Edit:
opps, sorry it's a bit hard to see from the profile pic, but if you look hard you can just see the black hole next to the indicator
