I have a de-catted 4.5. Does alter the engine setup?

It will start to adapt itself after a while, but if you have just had it done - reset the adaptives on the Laptop to speed it up.

I think that trackcar offers a fuel adaptive/remap to enhance his linked decats, so presumably this must affect the adaptives etc somehow...

mmm just windered if that was why I can't get my adaptives anywhere near 0% at low RMP's. See other thread.

I have the trackcar linked decats on mine. I'm adjusting the tpots today, so I'll let you know how it goes...

Guys, Cats or no Cats won't make any difference to the Adaptives!

The cats are positioned after the lambda sensors so all they do is remove the unwanted gases. The Lambda sensors monitor the unburnt fuel and tells the ECU to adapt the fueling!!!!!

I may be wrong and will be the first to put my hand up, but I thought that the decats gave a better straight through flow, thus no back pressure or build up, which gives nice "clean/pure" readings on the lambdas, thus meaning that the engine management will have less of a struggle with the adaptives due to air/fuel readings being passed straight over and straight out the back. Thus in a round about way affecting the adaptives. confused

Could be wrong and value any info...

have heard several times that de-cats will affect it, my straight six is overfueling quite a bit (back end of car gets black with suit much quicker and flames out the pipes) with de-cats and needs a re-tune.

I hear what you are saying Marcus but don't think that'll make a difference if you can get the adaptives down or not.

Mine is de-cated with sports zorts and adaptives are close to zero.

Agreed, better check when my MOT's due.
Still don't seem to have had an explanation as to why my adaptives read as they do. If it is showing large minuses does that mean a shortage of air at those RPM?
