i need to adjust my boot release, which means i have to pull the carpet off the fiber glass... what glue should i use to put i back? i'm guessing the glue stick my daughter uses for her arts and crafts probably is not the best.

thanks

evostik would be the obvious choice, but the smell takes ages to disappear. I've been using a water based glue that was left over from laying amtico flooring, it has similar properties to evostik, but no smell.

You can adjust the boot catch without peeling back carpet. From memory I think you just undo the boot interior lamp cover and you can then see enough of the cable to adjust it (but make sure you tighten the bolt on the cable or you will lock it shut).

hi, thanks for the replies.... its not the boot release mechanism, its the 'cerbera' button switch that isn't working... i have to push really hard to get it to trigger and then it only works about half the time. sorry, i should have been a bit more specific.

found a tube of 'no more nails' in the garage that i had forgotte about... wonder if that would be a 'bad' thing as i might not be able to get the carpet off again.

where can i get evo stick?

I wouldnt use 'no more nails' if i was you, youll never get the carpet back up, go to a diy place and get a glue spray, comes in an aerosole can, its used for carpet tiles and at least youll be able to remove the carpet again

Pop into any carpet shop and get some aersol carpet glue - cost under £5. Spray both sufaces leave for about a minute press and bond into place - job done. B&Q or Homebase also sell the stuff.

By the way Methodwares, I had the same problem with mine and found that with a couple of layers of small cut duck tape on the inside centre of the badge does give it enough lift to make pushing the badge for the boot release more easy.

Hope this helps and I used a hot glue gun for carpet re securing.
