to anyone whoose interested, also please excuse my grammer,i brought my 1996 4.2 starmist chianti cerbera back in september 2006,i brought the car off of a friend of a friend the very nice man knocked £1500 off of the asking price,i thought thats a nice start in to my journey into the unknown of tvr ownership,i did think at the time when buying the cerb the fact that the previous owner had only covered 200 miles in a year this might be a problem, the cerbs mileage was 31000 it is now 35000,during the first couple of weeks of owning the cerb i felt it was running a bit rough, this wss confirmed when i noticed smoke commimg from under the car one morning when warming the car up, the exhausts were glowing red, onto my first contact with dan at levens in basildon ,handy for me only 20 mins away, this resulted in new throtle pots, coil pack, plugs and leads, and a tune up, while the car was at levens dan had a good look over the car for me all he could find wrong was the diff bushes needed replacing, when the chap i brought the cerb off heard off my problems he very kindly offered to pay for the repairs, since then i have replaced front springs and dampers, fuel pipe master cylinder, front pads, door and window control box, throttle cable, had a6000 mile service donated by levens london thunder,i have also brought a set of sp 12 wheels from silverstone performance, which i think suit the car,the car came with 18 inch rl7 wheels,i know i am still feeling my way in the world of tvrs, but i have come to the conclusion that as long as ihave money in my pocket i will do my best to keep my car on the road, and why the hell didnt i buy one years ago? wow what a car, if i have bored anyone who reeds this sorry.

the ride was ok,my car has seemed a bit twitchy on the front end with either set of wheels on,seems worse on uneven roads not sure if its the tyres causing the problem? i have bridgestone so3 on which came with the car,it did improve after the front springs and dampers were replaced,i am not sure iff its my car or its how cerbs are? i probably need to drive a few others

a follow up to my original post, i am sure this has happened to many cerb owners,i am a petrol tanker driver which involves shift work so my body clock is all over the place, any way just been out to get some petrol for the cerb,as its a nice sunny morning i thought i would go the long way to the garage take advantage of the empty roads,i was on the a127 near southend in essex plodding along about 70 mph in lane 1,i looked in my rear view mirror and there was a dark blue ford probe stuck to my rear bumper i deceided to ignore him,i pulled into the petrol station and the blue probe followed me in we ended up next to each other on the pumps, the conversation went something like this, probe driver you didnt want to play then mate? i said what do you mean play?knowing full well what he ment,he said well race mate, i said it would not be much fun for me, he said what do you mean mate? i said well a couple of blips on the throttle and i would be a spec in the distance,he said no way mate,he then tryed to tell me how fast his car was,by this time i had enough, if anyone who reeds this is into football you will understand my reply to the probe driver,it went like this,i said do you like football mate?puzzled look on his face he replied yes mate,i said well mate your car is amateur level,my car is top half of the premier league, thats why i didnt bother to play, and by the way i am not your mate, the look on his face was a picture,i paid for my petrol and came home, like i said i am sure you have all had this at one time or another, ps have fun over the weekend and watch out for a dark blue ford probe

Hi peter, I live in southend. I have to act with some surprise that anyone could consider racing the A127, it is so busy, top speed must be 65mph! Re the Probe, whilst I am not one for street racing, the chances are he loved your wheels and just wanted to see what you could do, so he could tell his mates over a beer. Dagenham's finest will never leave you alone!

Cerby is a snob hehe

I can't believe you didn't light-up the back wheels and go for a 200ft powerslide nono

Just ignore the chavs, go at yer own pace but most of all.....ALWAYS DESTROY THE PORKERS hehe

It's a shame you had SO3's on the rl's, it'd rather eat mud than shod the Cerb with them, the SO2's were great, very predictable unlike their later descendants. Do you plan to sell your 18's or know of any more on offer?

Cheers

Hey Cooky,

Yep totally agree.

Left to go up to Lowestoft with another driver to pick up the Lex and drive back down.

I can’t remember them all but I do recall pulling away from –

3 Carreras
4 M3’s
1 Subaru
1 Ferrari (but he wasn’t trying)

Porsches are the best; they seem to be flabbergasted when you sail away.

Anyhow well over 600 miles in less than 24 hours of ownership – mentally and physically drained, dinner, early night for more of the same tomorrow.
