strange alarm problem?
Discussion
not sure what this is, or what is causing it....
first problem happened on friday, i got home and none of the door buttons would work. dropped the window and opened the door with the cable, no drama. the boot would not work either so i had to break in the 'secret' way. once in i unplugged the door ecu for 5 minutes or so and plugged it back in. everything worked.
this morning, i unlocked it to get my daughter's booster seat out as i was taking the other car, set the alarm again and i get two chirps in time with the 2 flashes (this is a 2001 model and only flashes twice when arming --- there is a previous thread on this 2 v 3 times). this happens when one of the windows is not closed all the way or something, but they all were. so i unarm it, re-arm it... .same thing. unarm, open/close both doors and the boot and re-arm it and its happy.
if i had the time i would have done one door / boot at a time to determine which was the culprit, or is the alarm itself the culprit? as i've noticed since the door lock-in/out problem the key-fobs are not as effective when disarming / arming (use to be able to do it from 30 feet away, now at 5 feet it takes a couple of times)
oh, it worked perfectly yesterday except for the keyfob thing...
thanks

This may help or may not, i had a simmilar problem with mine where as the alarm wouldn't set itself and it turned out to be the door catch which was loose. when tightend the park switch worked properly and the windows went up which some times didn't happen before unless you sat in the car. No good when you actualy wanted to leave the car and go to bed. i am talking about the 3 screws in the door frame/car body, not the door.
