Slightly rough idling and a squeeling noise...

belt on front of engine is slipping on the small pully on the left of the engine (facing it)...seems to be about to wear through the belt...(bits of belt splatted onto underside of bonnet)

it shall be going of to austec monday on a low loader.

what the hell could be wrong? jammed water pump? oil pump?

buggeration.
hmmm, i know it's just meant to be for the aircon that belt (the power of the search function...), but it seems to be jamming in some way (aircon seems ot work), but the bloody pully doesn't seem to be turning and hence the noise and drag on the engine. damn damn damn damn
maybe i can just remove the belt and not need the low loader?

old belt, or check one of the things it is connecting is not loose and has shifted -had this once on an old astra, alternator mounts went.

It only drives the air-con. Take it off, buy a new one, put it on.....

sounds like the belt is sh@@ged but worth checking if the bearing has seized in the pulley

Is the small pulley just an idler/tensioner pulley? If so, probably easy to fix smile

Yes, it's just an idler pulley.

Not a job for a Austecs really, but I guess there are a lot of people who don't know one end of a spanner from the other so, needs must and all that. smile

I took my belt off the other day.

All you need is an 8mm allen key if memory serves correctly....
