After getting some superb advice from amongst others vpvipercerb I thought I would post a howgoesit plus and few other Qs.

REPLACING CV BOOTS
The first half shaft took ages to get out (inexperience reined supreme), but the second was off the car in 20 mins (I know that is a long time to the experts,I am working in 18in of space and have to get from under the car to put on and take off the handbrake. In the end the easiest way I found to get the half shaft out of the wishbone nest was by removing the 2x bolts on the bottom wishbone and lifting to make a space - easy. What a mucky job though I must have gone through 4 toilet rolls cleaning all the grease off CVs and the missus is not pleased especialy when she had to borrow one roll from a neighbour because she was caught short - oops!! Anyway with one assembly looking like new and the other not far behind I am well chuffed. I was surprised at what little wear there was to the cv bearings.

CHANGING DIFF OIL
Hopefully not a drama now that I have the correct spanner to fit in between that impossibly small gap. Unless anyone reading has any major health warning over the type of diff oil I was going to use CASTROL EPX 80W-90??

SPARK PLUGS

Am I right in saying that if I remove the spark plug cover I will have to use a resealer to reseal the plate in? If so what sealer would I use and can this be obtained from your normal highstreet or out of town shops. Or if I was to remove cam cover instead would I get around the problem or does that need a gasket /sealer too when you replace?

Thanks for the mention, everyone here is ready to help with whatever they have done or seen, so I only know what I know from the piston heads collective.thumbup
Back to the job in hand, I've just had a look in the hand book and it says the diff oil should be EP80/140 which would be a touch thicker than 80/90, maybe before you change it try to confirm, from here or a dealer, which grade of oil it should be.
The spark plug leads should unplug from the sparkplugs (they will be tight), I don't know what you mean by the plate? covering them.
If you want to take the cam covers off they are sealed by normal silicone sealant, ther is no gasket.

Hi jb. I should have made myself clearer. This is the black plate in the middle of the engine cover which has the TVR logo on it. There are three allen bolts holding it in to the main cam cover but no doubt bolt through the plate into the the head. I don't know if this helps
