Right, I don't want to start another suspension bashing thread, but I've just finally got my new suspension set up to my liking and thought a bit of feedback was in order as no one has posted about these new shocks so far. So here goes...........

A fortnight ago I had to pull my steering rack as it had excessive play and also sprung a major leak. As my old Nitron NTX's were feeling tired and the adjusters had seized solid, I decided to get new suspension as a treat. Now, since the rebuild I had already fitted new poly bushes all round, and fitted the rose-jointed drop links front and rear. Add to this a 4.5 front ARB so I was expecting a good setup. Joolz supplied the kit with 500lb front and 375lb rear springs as I wanted to firm things up as I'm not keen on roll in faster sweeping corners. After I fitted the kit, with the bump and rebound set to fully soft the car initially felt dangerous, but this was before the alignment and camber was set, so fair enough I thought. Front was set to 1 deg toe in, 1.5 deg neg camber and the rear toe at 15 mins toe in, -1 deg neg camber. Bear in mind I've also just fitted a recon rack. So anyway, I spent the weekend tweaking the bump and rebound, using Joolz guide and also trawling the net for info. Well to cut a long story short the car is transformed, literally, it doesn't feel anything like the car I've become used to driving. Its now feels supple and utterly composed. It doesn't dive, pitch or lean, but still manages to ride well. The faster you go, the tighter it feels. The steering is sharp and direct, turn the wheel a bit and the car changes direction immediately with seemingly no transient effects. Under heavy braking the car tracks straight and again feels amazingly composed.

To be fair I was always a bit skeptical about how much a good set of spring/dampers could have, and I'd kind of accepted that the Cerb would never be a great handling car, inspiring confidence to attack bends and load up the car in fast sweeping bends. I had also got it into my mind that a single adjustable monotube was always going to be superior to a twin tube. I've come to the conclusion that a twin adjustable twin tube damper is infact perfectly suited to fast road conditions, I just can't imagine the car getting any better. So I'm very very happy indeed with the protechs, infact I'm off for a drive............... cheers Joolz!!

So you did it!
Well done. Looks like your car needs testing on one of those fine French Roads!
