I can't understand why there would be,but is there a performance or runability/driveability advantage of having the Emerald,as opposed to the MBE(re-mapped) on the AJP?I have an Omex on my current Griff/RV8(it's very good),and i can have an Omex configured to run an AJP free of charge if i like,so i would be interested to know of any advantages please?smile

Main advantages of the Emerald are:

1. The interface is user friendly and free with the unit
2. In the latest version there's the ability to store 3 maps and,
3. It has a self-mapping facility if you throw a wideband lambda into the mix

If all you're after is a single one-off map to improve your current engine config, the MBE is just as good.

on the emerald you can move the throttle and rev sites around to your heart's content, which is very useful on cerbs where you have a high rate of change of airflow over the initial throttle opening angle .. and you can close the speed sites up at low rpm also to make mapping much more accurate.

After remapping via the Emerald the bhp and torque graphs appear much smoother than the equivalent MBE graphs, of the cars I've driven the power delivery via the Emerald is smoother and for some reason mapping via the Emerald can generate more torque / mid range.

Not only that but if you want to change fuelling etc at a later date is doesn't need a another re-map at 500 quid a time.

Plus its still being made, by guys who are very helpful
Try and get a replacement MBE ecu......
