Dextron III ATF
Is that auto transmision fluid?? what about in the diff?cheers!
why auto fluid in a manual box? what are the viscosity numbers? 80/90??Cheers Lee
ATF is too thin to provide decent bearing and gear protection.
It may be what's on the sticker on the side but that's only to allow the vehicle manufacturer to reduce the number of fluids used ( the head of development at Tremec told me this.....)
The main reason the 5th gear fails in these cars is the lack of a proper bearing under the gear combined with the use of ATF as a lubricant.
I'd recommend the Castrol Synthrax 75W-90 oil it's still quite thin to provide good synchro performance but provides far superior bearing protection.
I use this in all my cars and no I don't work for castrol

Cheers Matt! can anyone else confirm that this is the case?It may be what's on the sticker on the side but that's only to allow the vehicle manufacturer to reduce the number of fluids used ( the head of head development at Tremec told me this.....)
