One of the bolts has bent over time and the bonnet is now out of alignment... Anything over xxx miles an hour and the bonnet pops open on one side which is really annoying. Unfortunately there isn't enough play left in the catch on the off side to prevent this from happening..

Has anyone else had the problem and are the bolts easy to remove/replace?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

PS went to Sheffield today and it was a lovely drive albeit rather sedated.

Are we talking about the aluminuim arms that locke the bonnet in place by turning the lock handle under steering wheel, and if so do you have the plastic ends on the ends of these arms still?

No, it is the main bolts on the hinge holding the bonnet in place. One of them is bent and therefore the bonnet is out of alignment. As a result the aluminium arms you speak of will not engage on the offside.

Thanks

I'm guessing someones let the wind catch the bonnet and blow it backwards, or it's just been lent too far without support?

I'm guessing you'd need to remove the bonnet to straighten the hinges.

I think you are right, it would make sense if it had been lent too far open as the bolt is bent in that direction which means when it is closed on the near side the catches cannot engage. Looks like a two man job so I'm out of action for a while or least until my Dad comes over in a couple of weeks....buggerations. swear, swear...

Thankyou for the invaluable advise.
