Went for a glorious drive today, fuel a bit low so decided to fill up with this stuff as I have used it in other cars to good effect.
The Cerb now runs like a bag of nails!! Coughing on part throttle and low down in the rev range
I had about a quarter tank of BP ultimate left which was fine on the two tankfulls I had put in previously.
Anyone else experienced this, and what should I do?

Not questioning what you're experiencing, but I have a lot of difficulty in believing that it's the petrol. I would have thought it more likely that you may have "stirred up" the tank and got a blockage somewhere, or that it coincided with something else.
Hope you get it sorted though, a sick Cerby is no fun!

If you are worried contact Shell and they will look in to it.The Cerb now runs like a bag of nails!! Coughing on part throttle and low down in the rev range

Do you think that it will clear itself as the fuel is actually cleaning something?
I'll let you know if there is an improvement in a few days when I have put some miles on it.
It could just be that this particular car doesn't like this fuel. As I said above, no probs with BP Ultimate
Im interested in this myself as i run my cerb on v-power and havent tried BP fuel!I'll let you know if there is an improvement in a few days when I have put some miles on it.

Same here - my 4.5 eats V-Power, and not noticed any problems outside of what I had taken to be the characteristic lumpy bottom end - so I might look at swapping to something else as a test...

Interesting...maybe to do with the mapping? As far as I know my car is standard and just been serviced.
As far as I'm aware the Supermarket fuel doesn't have many of the cleaning agents, although it is the same Octane number.
From what I have read:As far as I'm aware the Supermarket fuel doesn't have many of the cleaning agents, although it is the same Octane number.
Sainsbury's did a deal with BP back in 2004 for them to supply them the fuel. Sainsbury's sell the same fuel as in a BP station, so the Super unleaded is BP Optimate - 97 octane
Tesco's bought a 25% stake in Greenenergy, who supply them the fuel, so that they get a dedicated supply route with cheap prices. Hence why their super unleaded is 99 octane, but no detergents.
Asda buy their fuel from whoever is cheapest, which is why they are the cheapest supermarket for fuel.
Shell V-Power is 99 octane - detergents etc - and yes I like this but at 6p per litre more I tend to reserve it for special occaisions

I didn't know the score with Sainbury's petrol. Good news all round then
From my experience with V-power in other cars, the throttle is smoother and there is an improvement in MPG which I felt more than justified me paying a higher price (and the detergents too
)
Shame my Cerbera doesn't seem to like it much

Thanks for the info. Looks like V_Power's the fuel of choice if:
a) Mr Bank Manager doesn't mind
and
b) neither does your Cerb
Interesting history - thanks

I was advisd by my Indie to only fill up with Shell V-power every 4 tankfulls. Not that it really does much harm, just not necessary, Too much 'detergent' on a high performance engine can be a bad thing, but once every 4 fill ups, the engine gets a good clean.
I use Tesco and BP Ultimate normally and I can't really say I notice any difference between the 3.

I asked about this some time ago as i have a sticker on the filler that says to use 95ron which seems to be at odds to the rest of you. the car runs perfectly well, ticking over at 800-900 rmp when warm without any lumps and very smooth during acceleration. 4.2 2003. As it is obviously to buy and is fine i have never tried anything else. From what you are describing this is what puts me off.

Tell you what though, lumpy running aside I decided to plant my right foot today.....woooohoooo wheelspin aplenty
The car never did that on BP ultimate, else I wasn't trying hard enough before.
Done 1/4 of the tank now, so will report back if any improvements as far as running are concerned when I get close to my next fill-up.
