Foam fiters can be washd out with parfin (less than £3/gallon), wring it out get rid of excess parafin then re-oiled.
best done with bucket with 2litres of parafin, give it good swill, wring out and shake any excess then re-oil. doesnt need to be swiming in oil. Thats the cheap way.
Go to any motorcycle accessory shop Ask for "Twin air" foam fiter ceaning system. should be abot £20 mabe less. For that you 2 re-sealable buckets, The big one has the cleaning fluid, does sam job as parafin only dearer. The 2nd smaller bucket has tacky blue substance, called, funily enough TACK. This insnt an oil but does a far better job as any dust sticks to it a lot better.
Use it same before. (Use rubber glovers)
1: clean in big bucket & wring it out out back into bucket. (Sedement will fall to bottom)
2: Dip it in small bucket making sure its competely covered with tack. wring out till there's no excess. It should be tacky the touch.
There's also another system, believe its called "NO FUSS" that allows you to put it in a washing machine. Think you can get them both from demon tweaks I ave no probs geting from various outlets locally. So any probs let me Know

Interesting, I took the foam filter out of mine the other day and it was as dry as a bone.. How oily should it be and does it make any difference what type of oil is used? (SP6 Cerb)
Thanks
Graham
If its one dry, its only dong a fracton of its job, use at least alight oil or beer still some spray tack. All the major Oil manufactres make one, Cstrol, Silkolene, Motul etc. Apply sparingly just so its tacky to te touch. I Use PJ1 o my Ducati.s use te mehod in my reply aboveThanks
Graham
Do it now because the getting in at intake speeds will be like a sand blaster wearing things out really quickly.
