Well, after 12 months of not doing a lot, my Cerb 4.2 is finally having its' new coat of paint. Went for the purple, gold and cyan reflex jobbie. smile

To match the new paintwork I want to smarten up the other stuff on the outside, so I've gone for a new windscreen, clear front indicators, clear repeaters, painted the windscreen and rear screen trims etc. I would, however, appreciate pointers for a few things that are out of stock at the usual suspects:

- rubber gaskets behind the Cerbera badge?
- Rubber mounts that sit between wing mirror base and door?
- Waterproof cap for door button under wing mirror (one has disappeared)
- Anyone found a cheap source of headlamps? As mine are deeply scarred.

Any pointers or suggestions much appreciated.

Hi Andrew
The colour scheme sounds fantastic.
Mines a purple one too and its reached that age where it could do with respray.
I would love to see some photos of yours and could I be cheeky and ask how much your respray cost. You can email me if the details are sensitive.

Cheers

Clever Trevor sell both the above items - Get the Headlamps done before you have the car resprayed.

I'm doing the respray myself (we'll in fact I'm not, but my bodyshop is).
It's a complete colour change from a 3 stage pearl red to the TVR/PPG flip/reflex colour. I reckon if I was doing it for a customer it would probably be in the region of £3500. Which on a 1996 Cerbera makes it pretty uneconomic. The paint retails at £375 per 0.5 litre and I need 3 litres!!

Clever Trev doesn't appear to have any waterproof caps. The headlamp lens at 19.20+VAT per side which seems a bit steep when they are standard 7" lens. Just looking for other options.

Thanks

Rubber behind badges - look for an old mouse mat of correct (preferably neoprene) material and cut to size. Gives good spring to rear badge for boot release

We already do smile. Rock up in a TVR and we slash our rates. And without blatent advertising, we also do fixed priced front end resprays.

Anyway here's a pic as of last week:

Then it made its way into the oven;

And came out in a nice new coat of primer grey

Next step is a coat of matt black basecoat as the reflex paint is used on a black base to increase its reflective properties.

What do you charge for a front end respray. The prices and quality can vary a lot. Assuming standard paint costs etc what is the ball park ?

I didn't include the link as I didn't want to be accused of self-promotion smile

But as you have asked whistle we currently charge a straight £700 +VAT for a front end-respray on any TVR. This assumes
- No fibreglass repairs necessary, just the usual stonechip damage.
- Metallic or solid colour. Pearls and reflex paint extra.
- This includes front valance, bonnet, headlamp pods and both wings back to the doors.

We can also install the front end light conversion, but the last time I looked, the kit itself was about £800, which is scary.

We also use PPG paint, which is original TVR (for the vast majority, although they did change supplier in last couple of years).

Equally we welcome anyone to inspect our work, take pictures, ask questions etc.

Any idea on the cost of a full respray in BMW Estoril Blue? I think it may be a pearlescent paint but im not sure... theres a few stone chips and a few dents/tiny bit of cracking at the back where its been reversed into a post (dads work, I know - I've told him off repeatedly!) literally the size of a two pence piece - equally the front right wing is badly painted, though im guessing that doesnt matter?

Just guaging approx costs...

As more than one person has asked the cost, I've put a general answer in the other thread;
