Whenever I start my car there is a strong smell of petrol. Having removed the F1 panel I think I have found the problem. The hose running from the front of the fuel rail attaches to a cylindrical tube infront of the engine. I assume this is a cooler as it also attaches to the aircon pump.
The hose from the fuel rail is clearly the wrong diameter for the spigot on the cooler. The tube was wrapped with insutation tape to try and get the hose clip to grip. I think this is where the fuel is leaking.
I have made a temporary fix by sliding the end of the hose inside a short length of water hose so the hose clip grips better.
How do I fix the problem? Is it posssible to have a hose made that is the right diameter for the cooler spigot while also having the right connector for the fuel rail? If so where would I go to get thos done?
Does this hose see any significant pressure and what hose would be best to use?
