Are they the same as on the chim? if so how come they dont seem to suffer the same probs with both these parts? with the torque on the 500 i thought they would suffer more!

I don't think they are but I think a lot of teh Cerbs woes with gearboxes are due to the torsionals created by the firing order of the flat plane crank.

As stated before there are many cars out there running the T5 with just as much torque as a V8 Cerb yet they seem to have no problems with 3rd gear departing the shafts.

I've just had my 4.5 Cerb's diff rebuilt to salisbury spec (i.e. as per griffs & chims) as there was an issue with parts availability when an attempt was made to rebuild the OE hydratrak recently. No noticeable difference to report . . . even after giving it some real stick at Castle Coombe on Monday biggrin

don't forget the extra rev range of the AJP most 500 owners are changing up at 5K as the engine is all done by then. The cerb's V8 will scream round another 2K revs, which generates a fair bit more heat.

Not to mention the piping hot cats nestling just underneath the box as well....

Use the Castrol 75W-90 gearbox oil and a lot of the problems go away, 5th gear welding itself to the layshaft for one
