...is there a suggested red line figure (and are they different for 4.2/4.5) or does the ECU take care of it by cutting ignition partially/totally and at what revs ?
Warning change light comes on at around 7000rpm on my 4.5...It's only a warning, as the engine will let you rev it until 1.) it goes bang, or 2.) you put your foot through the floor.
No limiter and no ECU interjection.

Max RPM should never exceed 7000. At the bottom of this dial, a red light will illuminate to indicate the need to change up to the next appropriate gear. The light will illuminate from 7000 rpm.
Mine lights up with that horrible buzzer at 6500rpm???? why???Tachometer (Rev counter)

The shift light and buzzer are configured in the ECU with a map of rpm against throttle site.
The 'rev limiter' is the fuelling in the base map set to zero above 7000rpmish
Joolz at TCS can tweak them when he does the mapping.
We had a couple of goes at getting the soft and hard ignition cut to work but without success. Its likely not enabled in the software. But it would be a less brutal way of killing the revs than starving the engine of fuel!

We have an air limiter at 7000rpm.
The purple pipes collapse and choke the engine at that rpm, its actually (deliberately at our request) fuelled to 9krpm - back when we were trying to work out what was limiting our revs... We'll have it set to about 7800rpm soon when it next graces Trackcars workshop I think, we need all the revs we can get for the Speed Trials, but as its done 70k faultlessly thus far, we dont want to push it too far.

Thanks for the info guys.
Can't remember who I heard it from but recall the race engines were supposedly red lined at 7700 and std cerbs were a thousand less.
So last week, as I now know how to, I set the stack shift light to fire at 6700. When going round Combe on previous occasions I have left it 3rd between Quarry and the chicane without issue....this time the likewise but the light came on so thought I'd ask as I'm running std 4.2 with matching ECU at the mo.

I'll take my trackday silencers into work tomorrow.

7800rpm! can the engine take that on a regular use? never had mine above 6500
