I want to slowly buy all the tools I'll need to check all the variables on a Cerbera. I need to know what the fuel pressure should be on a Cerbera so I can buy the right gauge and regulator if necessary.

Also can someone explain the 4.5 fuel system as I'm rather dull regarding these things. I assume the fuel pump pushes fuel to the fuel cooler and into the front of the fuel rail. The regulator at the other end of the fuel rail provides resistance and when the pressure reaches the right level it opens and dumps fuel back to the tank. With a constant pressure, the fuel volume is regulated by the time the injectors open.

Is that right?

John - your getting too technical.
These are the tools I think are essential - well maybe not essential but they make life a hell of a lot easier.

1. Decent 3/8" drive socket set.
1. From Halfords - a set of ratchet flexi-head ring/open ended spanners
2. A decent set of socket Allen keys
3. A Laptop, serial lead and the ECU Diags software.
4. Ratchet Screwdriver
5. Low trolley Jack
6. Axle Stands
7. Wire Brush, jar of Kurust and tin of hammerite
8. A pet Octopus (you'll need it for lots of awkward tasks)

You are missing the point completely. My wife hates this car. She thinks it was designed by the devil. She is scared to get in it and even more scared when we drive. Thus, when the incorrectly sized fuel line blew off the fuel cooler and sprayed fuel allover the hot engine I need to sound totally confident with my answer or she will never ride in it again. I need the truth because I'm a bad lier.

Sounds right to me .. except I was not aware the Cerb has a fuel cooler.

Normal pressure is 43.5 lbs.

Hi Jon
I posted this on another forum..and I am presuming that your car has the air-con fuel exchanger....The fuel pipe that fits onto this is 7mm NOT 8mm like the rest of the system.

Where do I get a new fuel line to run from the cooler to the fuel rail. All the garages and shops I've been to have been too scared to make one. Austec can make one but it's a 150mile round trip and I'm busy at work. I could do with it mail order.

I take my comment back on the 7mm ...I rather presumed that you had the Jubilee clipped on version, it sounds like a proper fitting jobbie (shock horror ...TVR)

No, you were right, fuel rail has swaged threaded connector, other end is just a hose clip. Based near Maidstone in Kent.

Hi Jon
I am not sure that I can point you to anyone down that way. I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction.
Enjoy.

There are a number of companies that can manufacture a bespoke pipe with swaged ends etc. First, try yellow pages for a local pipe/hose manufacturer and give them a call. Most will be happy to help if you take the old hose along. If not, then Demon Tweeks can make any hose to order but its not the cheapest way and will take up to a week.
