Ferrari 430 or SL65 AMG or TVR Cerbera 4.5
Discussion
If I could have just one, F430... though theoretically I could get an F430 and a Cerb 4.5 for the price of the SL.
The reason is simple; its the quickest of the bunch point to point, sounds pretty good, can be used in all weathers without too much bother, looks the most exotic and its a mid engined car with Le Mans pedigree, which I quite like.
The SL is the quickest in a straight line of all of them, but not good enough in the corners for the kind of use it would see in my hands and would blend in to normal traffic too easily.
The Cerb is a close second, but we already have one.
- Though if we didnt it would still be the F430, just... I'd miss the Cerb/ be a little gutted whenever I saw one though. Theres nothing else quite like it.

Hardly. It's the most lustful car that Mercedes have produced in a long while. I can't think of another Mercedes that genuinely makes me drool. I think you have to go back to the old Gullwings...
amazing car... but most wouldnt see it being much different from any other SL.shadowninja said:
That's what I mean, though. All the new SLs look great. The meatier ones have bodykits and better-looking wheels, though, so they look better overall. And even better: they look good with the roof up.
I sort-of agree, though they look a bit "old-man" - but im a yoof so what do I know? I'd have an SL55 instead though, not as earth shatteringly quick, but much much cheaper and a better soundtrack.

true. out of interest, how come the Maserati 3200 with a suitable exhaust system still has the V8 noise?

Look at the size of the compressor housing, these are ridiculously tiny turbos, the header section to turbo exhuaust turbine is extremely short, and depending on the firing order of this engine you're probably still gonna hear a burble rather than an all out roar, its all down to how the wastegate/turbine housing is designed, the smaller the turbo, the least lag obviously, but also certain design considerations are taken into account for a free'er flowing system. I have personally driven a 3200 and I wouldnt say its a proper V8 burble, but its there on idle and low rpms, this probably means the wastegates are pretty free-flowing and offer less of a restriction on the flowing gases resulting in the pulses bouncing down the exhaust system, also as these turbos are quite small, i guess the wastegate opens up sooner as they're probably spinning up pretty quick, which again will release some of your burble...
