Are forums particularly useful ?
Discussion
Well I find this forum particularly useful - all of our experiences with our cars contributes to a 'brain trust' - an assimilation of all our knowledge.
Which is particularly useful when TVR really said 'thanks for buying the car, now off you go and work it out for yourself'!
Air filter? In the enclosure above the radiator. Consists of a piece of foam impregnated with oil, a lá motorbikes. Or you can buy a replacement element from various suppliers.
Most other questions are answerable here!
Hope this helps - we are an affable bunch!
Andy.

What an odd posting.
I can unequivicably state that the forums ARE useful.
You get out what you put in. I've saved a fortune and solved some real niggly problems thanks to people on here.
I will be brutally honest and say that sometimes a post comes along that people can't be arsed to reply to - maybe where's the air filter was one, as I would think that 99% of Cerb' owners know where the air filter is.

When the clutch went on my Cerb i decided to fix it myself, asked for advice on this forum and got the full lowdown on "How To".Would never been able to do it without this advice. To me the technical advice you get from people on this forum is invaluable if you want to work on your car yourself.Thanx guys.

I think sometimes posts come along and if they're not answered straight away, they drop off the page and can be easily missed. It's always worth bumping a post if you don't get a reply, for those that may have missed it first time round

I believe theses forums are invaluable for advice and meeting fellow TVR enthusiasts.

I guess people coming from ownership of cars which were serviced and looked after by main dealers are now buying cheap rockets and realise they aint cheap to run so now want to get their hands dirty, its a learning curve, cant knock them for it, at least they ask!
One cerb owner from a few years back decided to take his car to his local garage for an oil change. They decided to remove all the intake plumbing, god knows for what reason. In the end I got a call asking me "what are they doing?" to which, believe it or not, I said tell them to stop right there, I'm coming over. And I did, and the guys ripping off the plumbing said "we're trying to figure out where the oil sump plug is, cant see it from underneath!" lol it takes all sorts, mechanics alike lol

Just like to know if folks think they are. I've posted a couple of threads on where are the air filters and got not one reply..I'm hoping that just joing the TVRCC would be a little more enlightening and less virtually sociable. (Just provoking the "wasps" nest" :-))
The TVR Car Club Forum is a little slow if you're after fixes, solutions and the like, it's more for enthusiasts to know what's going on and where the meets are etc (chat about the cars when you meet up type of thing) - I'm sure if you had posted 'where are the air filters' on here, you would have had at least one reply.Everyone on here is always very helpful and most (like myself), never think a question is too stupid to answer.

Its worth doing a search first, these forums having been going so long that virtually every problem has been discussed and resolved at some point in the past.puffsorted2 said:

Hi all,
New here. Just got a 4.2 and have cleaned the air intake -very very dirty with grease and dust, but would like to do it properly and also check the air filters are clean. Could anyone give me a step be step guide as to do this ?
Cheers

I assume this is the post that we all missed (well I certainly did).New here. Just got a 4.2 and have cleaned the air intake -very very dirty with grease and dust, but would like to do it properly and also check the air filters are clean. Could anyone give me a step be step guide as to do this ?

It most likely slipped off the page rather than got ignored.
I usually
mine if it doesn't get an answer.Keep asking 'til you get the answer you want ..... and I promise you that you'll get it if you just keep asking.
Anyhow, how much help do you need Mr M?
Do you know where the air filter is located?
Do you know how to get the box that houses it open?
Oh, and for what it's worth, I agree that this is by far the most helpful of the forums I've come across when I've had problems (check my profile and you'll find the links to the sometimes "stupid" questions I've asked and had answered).
I agree with Ireland. This forum is by far the best I have come across. And not just for Cerbs.
I have had my baby now for 6 months and the folks on here have given me lots of invaluable info. I dont pretend to fully understand how the Cerb works but I'm learning all the time and I dont shy away from attempting jobs that i feel I can cope with. The key is searching this forum and getting your hands dirty.

That would be assuming that all new buyers who've never owned a TVR know where the air filter is ? mmm. I think I've made a bit of a case for the initial subject :-)

We are a friendly bunch on here, I've met some excellent people and have been helped out many, many times.
Sorry if I assume to much, I won't make that mistake again.
