In case anyone fancies some reading on the origins of the name for the cerbera!

the two/three/fifty/hundred/whatever headed dog guarding the gates of hell, cerberus. 4.5 heads perhaps? :P

three headed snarling dog badge replacement springs to mind :P

some classic quotes from these resources -

"In The Inferno, Cerberus punishes the gluttons"

I guess that means no fat drivers :P must shape up!

apparantly the "fluffy" character from harry potter is an incarnation of cerberus also (im not a fan myself, but like this image!)

given the cerberas doggy related name, I was thinking I need to come up with a name for my car, and surely it should be a doggy one! (and not rover, that would have the wrong connotations... :P ) fifi perhaps? biggrin

I dont think the plant was what the namers were alluding to though! smile when you look at all the mythological references in the tvr car names, and remember the doggy cerberus is spelt all kinds of ways, mostly due to translating the greek letters to english alphabet!

thats the trouble with me .. picky picky picky ... cerbera is still shrubbery! cerberus is still the dog ...

who would ever know what TVR were thinking ... ( and yes I would prefer the doggy imagery! )

nah, all to do with plurality!!

Cerbera is more than one Cerberus, ie two cerbera not two cerberuses!

I really like this pic.

Would I breaching copyright regulations if I had this printed on a T-shirt with my own made up text?

OK, here's the answer - Cerbero is the Italian word for the three-headed-dog-guardian-Hades chap; Italians use a feminised version of that (i.e. Cerbera) to mean an angry, aggressive woman. It is after that that our car is named. Don't believe me? Ask an Italian. (No bush, no thanks.)

typical TVR ... even the name causes confusion ...

I like the analagy to angry women - mines being a right cow at the moment!

But still cant help loving it to bits!

The plant Cerbera is named after Cerberus because all its parts are poisonous
