I've just removed the tuner/cd player and there's an orange wire in with the aerial coax that has the end stripped off but isn't connected to anything.

A pointer in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

I think that the wire is for the aerial amplifier and should be connected to a positive supply. But confirm this first I can't be sure and it would be really bad to have a big black burn mark in the headlining never mind the roof!!!

That would be an explanation why the radio reception's rubbish. Can anyone confirm this?

Nope the radio reception is rubbish because the aerial is hidden under the dash - basically as a wire.

When I first got mine I tried all previous solutions suggested. For analogue the only solution is to get one of the Halfords FM powered aerials and run it to somewhere. I've run mine to the rear of the car and it's stuck under the rear window panel above the fuel tank. Works OK-ish. Not brilliant but 500% better than before.

The real solution is to mount an aerial on the roof (and spoil the lines - I didn't want to do this) or go DAB.

But for me it's OK as I get some traffic, FM radio is OK-Ish and I mostly play MP3 Cd's/dvd's

Someone on here posted a thread about this subject about 6 months back and said they'd located an aerial behind the back seats and had got it to work perfectly.

I can't remember who it was though .....

The other method is to extend an aerial from inside the boot up in to the B post (suitably wrapped in foam to stop any rattles) and wired through the central tunnel to the radio.

I don't have this myself as I barely use the sounds, but I am told it is comparatively effective.

I've just confirmed the wire next in the aerial plug is for the amplifier and it should be connected to the electric aerial output on the stereo which is normally a blue wire.
Or just hide a proper aerial somewhere as others have said.

Probably me about a year ago now.

I tried the aerial up the B post, didn't work for me.

How do you get up the 'B' post, from out of the boot or from behind the rear seats??
