Get a clutch/brake bleeding kit from Halfords - the Eezeebleed ones means it's a one man job but they cost more - a normal cheap plastic tube with a non-return valve will do the job.
1* Unscrew the clutch cover, and chop out all the sealant.
2* Connect the tube to the clutch bleed tube - stainless steel braided hose on the drivers side in the engine
bay - Put the other end of the tube in the an old jam jae, and unscrew the bleed nipple.
3* Get inside the car and pump the clutch fluid and watch the jar fill up, and stop as soon as no fluid is
pumped out.
4* Now fill the clutch reservoir up, and repeat.
5* Fill the reservoir up again, and get someone to help you. They unscrew the bleed nipple, you push the
pedal down and keep it down and they tighten the nipple, you take your foot of the clutch, and keep
repeating this until no air is expelled and the clutch begins to feel 'right' with the bleed nipple.

Make sure they keep topping up the fluid to make sure no air gets in the system. When you put the clutch cover back on make sure you reseal it well because it WILL leak water into the footwell.

PS I bet when I post this I find someone has beaten me to it

Lift bonnet! laugh

Take off the large f/glass cover at the back of the engine bay held on by 2 allen headed bolts above either wing. Make sure you disconnect the washer pipes from the wipers so they can feed through.

To getto the master cylinder you have to get under the f/glass cover on the driver side inner wing. It is covered in silicon sealant and held down by 3 (in my case) screws, get that off then unscrew the cap off the cylinder. The bleed nipple is easy to find, you should see the braided hose with the nipple on the end, just in front of the drivers windscreen.

Now you'll need to fit a clear pipe over the end of the bleed nipple and a clear plastic bottle for the other end of the pipe to go into.
(The rest of the job is best done with two people one to pump the clutch pedal and one to top the fluid up).

Now for the Bleeding,
1: first you need to loosen the bleed nipple once thats done the clutch pedal needs to be pumped slowly until all the fluid has emptied into the bottle.
2: after that fill the master cylinder reservoir with your new fluid and start to pump the pedal again very slowly keep your eye on the fluid getting lower as you'll need to keep topping it up (try not to let it drop below half way).
3: When you cant see anymore air bubbles coming through the clear plastic pipe tell the person pumping the pedal to hold it down to the floor.
4: Then tighten the bleed nipple after you've done that they can release the pedal, then top up the reservoir to the fill line.
5: Press the pedal one last time top the fluid back up if needed, screw the lid back on the reservoir and thats it all done. You've just got to put everything back how you found it. I know someone has got to have beat me to it laugh

Thanks a lot guys! no arguing nowhehe
Found the reservoir in the inner wing and took off the cap,on the inside of the cap was what looked like tiny beads of water? not much but was there! is this normal? fluid looked like it was a little dirty! put my finger in it to see if i could see any of these black bits to look out for but didnt seem to be any! Will changing from dot 4 to 5.1 do any harm?
Thanks again fellasthumbup

I did mine after my clutch pedal went to the floor during london thunder.

I flushed an entire 2 litres through just to be sure, but syphoned out the old oil/crap from the master cylinder first to get all the crap out. I sloshed the new fluid aroudn to ensure I got the crap out so I was starting with clean every time.

Be aware that every couple of pumps you need to top it up again. Best get a lacky (I used my teenage son who moaned about the clutch strength) to pump the pedal whilst you monitor the levels. Work getting a dedicated funnel for the job as well to avoid the fluid going everywhere. I think I bought a 60p one.

Eezibleed kit. Halfrauds £9.00ish.
Less mess and you can do it by yourself.
Beware of that dirty fluid thats in there. Surely a sign of degrading seals. Mine had that. A month later the seals went altogether and I had to have them replaced.

Sorry to open this thread up again, but just wondering how the remote bleed pipe works, ior rather the nipple on the end, any ideas? Its a V8 4.2 if that helps! TIA
