Hi guys, was stuck in heavy traffic last night with a lot of start/stopping and the 4.5 was getting a bit hot and bothered (not too serious though) anyway, this morning went into the garage and noticed a small (2 inch) puddle of oil under the car. On further investigation, it appears to have come out of the dipstick - even though the dipstick was fitted properly.

The oil level is still at about 3/4, so only needs a bit of topping up, but just wondered if anyone else had experienced this and is it likely to be something minor or major?

PS: Also, what oil would you recommend to top it up with as I'm unsure of what exact oil is in there at the moment (original oil from new).

Cheers

Sounds like your crank case vent might be blocked. It's the tube that connects to the underside of the driver's side airbox.

Thanks for that I'll have a look. Although, the car has only done 4000 miles and is about a year old.

So has the car been run in?
From memory, when I had mine new, she had to have an oil change at 1k miles. The original oil is mineral based which helps to promote the running in. At 1k you move over to fully synthetic - Mobil 1 0-40W.

Car is still being treated reasonably gently! It's at 4k now, so is not quite on the fully synthetic stuff yet (6k oil change I've been told)

Hi RayVonn

Congratulations on owning the Real last Cerbera. Have you had any other niggles/problems with Her or is this the first?

A few pics taken on Blackpool promenade on July 15th last year.

Regards
Simon

Hey thanks for that! There are no real problems as such (touch wood) other than the forementioned oil spurt. But I'm not too concerned as it has only happened once and I suppose it could of been any number of things.

The only other thing that is a bit dodgy on the car is the temperature gauge - it is a prolific liar! Caused me a bit of panic the first time I saw it fly around to 110/115 eek

Other than that it is A1 thumbup

Just found out what the problem is....

The oil isn't coming out of the dipstick, its the breather pipe above it. The pipe had a tiny split underneath by the jubilee clip and was letting oil drip onto the dipstick area banghead

Anyway, the damaged pipe has been fixed temporarily until a new one can be sourced thumbup
