My miss's is going to kill me, i noticed a power steering drip the other day, so i checked the fluid level tonight, which was low so i filled it right up only to see it all fluid disappear down the pipe, so i kept on filling it up, not realising it was just filling the rubber boot on the steering rack and spraying all over the drive. It's a right mess!! the car will never rust though with all that oil on the chassismile. So it's back off with the rack and back to the reconners, it's a b"stard of a job too.

not a very happy TTP

Hope you guys have more luck than me, when the original rack went on mine in April 05 it was rebuilt by a specialist, only to last till April 06.
Which was rebuilt and fitted under warranty, but went again in Sep 06, only this time the company said it was unrepairable and would not honour warranty so ended up getting an exchange unit. frown

Hmm, I think power steering fluid is like brake fluid. Not something you want to leave on your bodywork. The power steering fluid on the BMW comes with a big warning notice about spilling on bodywork.

I think I'd treat the car to a soapy water bath tonight smile
