Help - Throttle?
Discussion
Hi Chaps,
The throttle is sticking on the Cerb - possible causes?
Symptoms-
Engine over-revving on all up gear changes whilst the clutch is down.
Down gear changes not a problem as engine breaking takes the revs down prior to change
On start idle revs are fine
On idle (after being driven) the revs are sitting at about 1200 and come down very slowly if the throttle is blipped
I'm thinking maybe a corroded throttle cable? Or does it sound like something a little more complicated.
I'd like to get this sorted asap as I had a weekend of driving planned and would have the proper hump if the car can't make Longbows FT.
Cheers,
D.

Most likley the accelerator cable inner wire is breaking up and sticking in the linning of the outer part of the cable. I've heard, in these pages, that sometimes the coil springs break at the ends of the throttle butterfly rods.
Disconnect the cable on the engine and see if the lever returns with its spring, if it does its the cable if not its something binding on the engine.
