As you may know, I was with the Evo boys yesterday. Cerb was rock solid despite a serious thrashing around Bedford aerodrome. They liked it a lot, " needs reving like a race engine"
On the way home the battery light came on (balls). Not to be beaten I checked the battery with a multimeter, not looking good no charge.
Rang mat at SP “Check the big fuse” he said. What a fu^&%r managed to get it exposed after much agro and skinned knuckles, burnt out.
Call TVR Barnet hammer down there on my Duke, buy a couple of fuses and hammer off home. Fit the fuse replace the air inlet pipes and oh yeah we are back in action, what a pig of a job but was not going to be beaten by a 7mm bit of metal, see you all at Rockingham.

Nick, Cerbs don’t you love them.

Loads of pics from the day, but not till the mag is out. Can't even mention the other cars there or the lap times, you will have to buy the mag next month. Should be a good one.

Great news thumbup (well not the fuse bit) saw the EVO thread but hadn't heard you had actually been bagged for the gig, I think it safe to say that your car will have done the model justice yes - Thank the lord it didn't happen at the day though or would have given them plenty of ammunition for little dig biggrin - Can't wait for the mag now.

nice one Nick thumbup
can't wait to see the mag.

glad to hear the car is ok, same thing happened to me on Sat night. On a tunnel run too, battery light came on and car died a short while after, thankfully not in one of the tunnels. RAC charged the battery but the car died again about ten mins later. Paul V had a spare big fuse, so changed it and car was fine after that smile

gonna get some big fuses to keep in the car now, just in case it happens again or happens to someone else.

wavey morning ladies - wingnuts in place of the 8mm nuts that hold the 100amp fuse in place wink makes it a doddle to change when the thing blows somewhere stressful - little ones fit inside the black box perfectly.

Is it just me thats going to say you havn't solved your problem.

The big fuse is a blinking big piece of metal. I could understand it comming loose, bent, or possibly a terminal getting loose causing arcing damage.

But if the big fuse has melted you have an electrical problem in your car that is yet undiagnosed frown

The fuse is there to protect your wiring form abnormally high current.

Julian,
One of the nuts wasn,t that tight. The fuse was not fully clamped down.
This was where the arcing had occured, pretty sure this was the cause of the burnout.

Great stuff. I don't like mysteries, especially when it comes to cerbs smile
