Hi all
Car has started to over heat. The fan on the drivers side is not working, it is not the fan itself as when I changed the leads round it came on. So I suspect it must be a temp sensor or something. Do you know where this is located and is it easy to change, for a mechanical numpty like me.
Cheers Graham

Its fairly easy to change, as long as it comes off ok (they can sometimes shear whilst coming off. To get to it you need to remove the GRP panel in front of the engine, and you'll find it located on a coolant pipe on the passenger side. Cant really miss it- the wire going that is connected to it is is labeled "temp. sensor" If you do a quick swap over you should be able to avoid loosing all of your coolant, but make sure you refill and bleed the system properly afterwards (find instructions on other threads).
Have fun!

Are the fans not controlled by the ECU, so with a lappie you should be able to see what temp the ECU is reading at, if way under what is indicated on the gauge then that would be the problem I assume. However if it is only one fan that is not working, then if one is coming on does that not indicate the sensor is working anyway? Is it running a normal temp when driving (i.e. fans not playing any part)?
