If I were to leave the car unused for a long-ish period is it advisable to disconnect the battery (I realise it will go flat otherwise)? I know if you do this the alarm goes off but if you turn the alarm off with the fob will it come on again? Will leaving the battery disconnected flatten the battery in the siren? Does leaving the battery disconnected cause other electrical problems, such as maybe the ECU battery going flat etc?

What I don't want to do is turn the alarm off only to have it start sounding off as soon as I have left. I suppose I could always get a battery conditioner, like an optimate. Anyone have any experience of these? Are they a fire risk or cause electrical gremlins?

Get someone to give it a blast a regular as you can, driving leave it sitting will create more problems than its worth. smash

Optimate is essential IMO. Been using mine for a year, I use the car about once or twice a week for a good 30m run. I wired the weatherproof plug that comes with the optimate directly into the battery so its dead easy to connect. Getting the Neg connector on requires removing the NS airbox to allow semi removal of the battery.
