I was out in the car on Thursday evening when it started to get difficult to change gears, but managed to get the car home.

Checked the fluid level and it was full to the brim. A quick check on PH I decided it must be broken fingers.

I couldn't be bothered to get the car to the dealers and pay there costs to change the clutch. So armed with Mad Marks guide on how to change a clutch thought I would give it a go. 6 hours later the clutch is out, with 3 broken fingers (clutch not on my hand).

Think it is the original one, the car has done 36000 miles.
Marks guide is very useful don't think I would have attempted it without the guide.
I am going to replace it with a Clever Trevor one.

I do have some questions.

1 What clutch fluid is recommended for the speed six 5.1 or 4.
2 how much to refill.
3 Where can I get the alignment tool to help refit it.

Brave man! I did mine too using Mad Marks guide.Dot 4 is ok if your not takin it on a track. Are you doin the slave cylinder while you have it apart?Might as well do the seals at least. When i bled mine it blew the seals in the master cylinder too!so bear that in mind.Hope it goes well.

Use dot 5 fluid it gets pretty hot in that bellhousing and you only need one of those little 250ml bottles.
As for aligning it I've got an old input shaft I used for mine possibly pop down to your local gearbox place and see if you can borrow one as T5's are used in loads of stuff

I had a new slave and seals fitted in January, so I think I might just replace the seal as a precation while its all apart.

Sorry Guys I modified the original report, to add torque settings and changed the title. Which is why it no longer downloads from the old link.

I found my clutch alignment tool from Ebay, i'll have a look see if I can find the place.
But although the tool helps a bit, getting some one to put their foot on the clutch as you try and feed the Gear box through the second friction plate is by far the best.
(Don't Forget --- This means if you are doing the seal too you need to bleed it through before refitting the Gearbox)

While on the subject of replacing the seal, take great care while replacing the slave cylinder. I pinched the seal in the last one I did and it only started leaking again after I had bolted the gearbox and everything back together frown
Press it home gently.
And make sure the holes are at the North and South positions.

Hum - if you don't mind I'll steal that and add it to the other stuff on my website - with your credits of course.
