Sounds like driveshaft.
If your speedo is working then I would say the drivers side shaft has snapped. The speedo sensor is fitted to that side of the diff, therefore the N/S shaft is staying put, and the O/S is spinning.

If the speedo has a sensor why did my speedo needle stop at 130mph on Sunday? Dirty sensor? If your speedo is working then I would say the drivers side shaft has snapped. The speedo sensor is fitted to that side of the diff, therefore the N/S shaft is staying put, and the O/S is spinning.

Do you know Trackcar has uprated drive shafts to overcome this problem £179+vat on his website?
By the way Byker28i, if the speedo works the sensor should be ok, it sounds as though its something in the speedo head thats sticking, probably because the needle never goes that far up, normally! Or maybe I'm wrong!
